I wouldn't worry too much about it TSoL, as it's probably expected that many members here will have had some sort of heightened emotional response, so that can't be held against you.
Don't let it get you down, if it's not true, it's not true, no harm, no foul. It does sound like a final potential April Fools joke, but hopefully all the air can be cleared soon.
