    The first time you go to the Northern Crater, your party is all getting abducted by ShinRa, so they could continue their evil plots against them.

    So anyway, Cloud gets high and stays with Sephiroth, to get even higher.

    (SPOILER)Later on, you find out that Cloud got 'Washed up' in Mideel.
    I think this is due to bad translation. I think that in the origional version, it probably says that Cloud, 'Took an overdose in Mideel'.
    So, he went all crazy and High for the time it took you to complete most of the Huge Materia quest.
    Then WEAPON attacks you in Mideel, and Tifa, drunk as she was, tripped, pushing Cloud (and herself) into the Lifestream.

    Yeah. Damn right.
    The fire in Nibelheim wasn't even started by Sephiroth. It was that Zangan guy. He fell asleep with a lit cigar... First it set fire to the bedsheets. Then the curtains. And then the whole city was alight.
    Of course, it was a cuban cigar, full of weed and what not...
    Sephiroth was getting high off the fumes outside, and that's why he was laughing when Cloud saw him walk through the fire.
