It seems that more and more people start hating other religions. I find this odd, for how can you hate something that usually strives towards peace, and goodness? I think people often forget to make the distinction between a religion, and actions taken by a member of that religion. It is not because of a religion someone does something, I think it is because of personal beliefs, it is somewhat annoying to hear people dising a religion. A religion is not responsible for what itspractitioners do, or how they interpet the text. I see Christianity as a religion that supports love, and harmony. Should I blame the religoon, when a Christian dis my religion, no, because that is not what the faith is about. I hope I make sense, I am writing this at 12:23am AST.

I think that people use religion as a tool of hatred. A religion preaches love, but out of ignorance, people wil conveniently ignore that aspect of thier faith so they can hate other people. I don't really feel like going in depth with it right now.

Yo, how do you know that Christianity is the religion that will save you from Hell? How do any of us truly know? None of us will ever know which religion is the correct one until we all die and see for ourselves later on in the future. I apologize if I sound a bit negative, but I am not. I just want to know why you think Christianity is the religion that will save us from Hell?

Once religion stops being personal and becomes a topic of casual discussion, I find that the only thing that seems to happen is that confrontation arises and, on a larger scale as is seen in the news, wars are waged. Using religion as a tool to advocate violent acts is ridiculous I think. I do find some other religions maybe peculiar or cruel but I don't have a right to dislike them - for starters, I don't understand them and haven't been tought what they entail.

almost all religions teach that anyway. The trouble comes when a person or a group gets control and changes the focus from "do unto others" to "slay the infidels". Even getting one religion for everyone wouldn't change very much, as you'd end up with differing sects, each with the same problem, and most likely they'd all be pointing at the other sects shouting "infidel! infidel!". Posiibly fighting over the holy places of whatever religion it was. Make the whole world Jedi, and people would fight over the Skywalker Ranch. We're just a violent bunch of apes.

It's not that I have problems with the morals many religions present. It's just that...if you look at all the wars that have occurred throughout human history, a great many of them stemmed from religion, and this is not a good thing.

The problem is that too many times, "religion" is used as a general term. Nothing is blamed on Christianity or Islam or whatever, it's all the fault of "religion".

Truth be told, more blood has been shed in the name of Allah than for any other cause. Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Bhuddism, Shintoism, none of those had anything to do with it (except that they were "infidels" on occasion), but still it's all grouped into "religion".

Religion can be a truly wonderful thing if used to bring people together for the greater good of the world, when tolerance, love and peace are preached. Lately however, it seems that most of the major religions have become tools to pull people apart and set them against one another, which I think is a great crime and shame.
