Thread: car laws

  1. #1

    Default car laws

theres alot of stuff going around at school about how "they" (have no idea who "they" are) made and passed some sort of law that sais if you were born in 1990 you cant get a drivers liscence till you are 18. this would be retarded and id be so pissed off if it happened. however, lots of people also said they pushed it back or it doesnt exist or lots of stuff. does anybody know the truth?

If it were true, it'd be a State Law. So yeah. I don't know what state you're in or what it's laws are.

I doubt that it's true. It would piss waaay to many people off. 'They' would never pass something like that.

It does depend on the state, so find out. Call your local DMV.

Yeah every state has different laws concerning the age it issues licences to drivers. So i guess you would just have to check your local DMV. im sure ure state DMV probably has a website. Check it out. if it does have something like that, its definately gonna be posted on teh website

Some states are already like that, so yeah it's definitely possible.

    Wouldn't piss off voters!
Untill at least 2008, and for every 1 kid who votes against whoever passed the law, there'd be 2 parents who're happy their kids were safer and they didn't have to buy them insurence.

That'd be nice. Or maybe just stricter provisions until 18.

Yeah, you should be able to go to your state DMV website or call some local DMV, they should know.

And good point, about the voting. When they'll be old enough to vote, they'll be old enough to drive, and most wouldn't care if those younger than he got to drive anyway. It's like, when you're in high school and vote on policies for the next year (i.e. uniforms, etc.), all the seniors who are gonna be out by the next year don't care.

They give way too many people drivers licences anyway.

My home towns got the longest list of people waiting to get there license in europe or so Ive been told. Most people here dont know how to drive but that certainly wont stop them. The tests here in Ireland are often terrible. My Dad didnt need to take any test to get his license. There were so many people waiting for them when he was preparing to take his test he was just given it.

There are some state laws that actually passed that were like that.In oklahoma if you belong to a indian nation you can bypass the state laws its not stupid because oklahoma passed a law stating if you get your permit after november 9th 2004 then you have to wait six months then goto drivers Ed and then another six months of provation.Until you can take the test to get a license. In oklahoma places like edmound or midwest city.Never ever take a drivers test there. They will fail you the first time if you are ages 16-18..Just so they can make some extra cash off you..I suggest people to take it in a country town and not a urban area.Mainly because in urban areas people really dont want young people driving around.Laws are always passed in states that prohibits a teen from driving or makes it tougher for them to get their license. It isn't fair but they say we get into the most car wrecks in america.

They're trying to do that in my home state of Delaware now, so it's definitely plausible. Doesn't effect me, though.

Georgia has a bunch of provisional driver's license steps now, but I'm pretty sure you can still get one at 16, even if it is limited.

Last time I lived in Georgia, you could get your Learner's Permit at 15 and your license at 16, after you've had your Learner's for at least a year. In Wisconsin, it was 15 and 6 months to get a Learner's, but you only had to have it for six months to get your license.

I heard that same rumour when i was in school.
In the UK, if the government had created a bill such as that, it probably would have been in the news.
