Brave Sword and Chicken Knife are only effective if you take steps to power one of them up from the beginning (you don't get both, anyway). Brave Sword is nice if you've never escaped from battle, while Chicken Knife is awesome if you've escaped hundreds of times. Try not to go half-way.
