Default India and China's alliance (uh-oh)

Am I the only one who has a bad feeling about this? The rest of the world is highly opposed to Bush's imperialism, and relations with China haven't been so good lately... The Indian prime minister was quoted as saying something along the lines of "The alliance will help shape the new world order". Am I just being paranoid?

    Are you talking about this?

    http://informationweek.com/story/sho...leID=160701349

    Or this?

    http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/...ow/1075024.cms

This is good news, what are you talking about? The world's largest democracy and the world's largest quasi-Communist state working together? Just over 30 years ago, these two were at such extreme odds with each other China attempted to invade India. This is great news. This isn't a military partnership, just an economic one. Holy crap, I would never have expected this out of my country. Can you imagine the magnitude of trade that can occur between 2 billion people, some of them being the poorest in the world? Holy crap, this is insanely awesome. Hell yeah, time to rock out in Bangalore!

Maybe I'll post something more rational later, I'm too busy being joyful now. !

I would have to say yes you are being paranoid Oo This is a good thing, India isnt particularly rich and if China and India would work together, it would strengthen both their countries, and i hope especially India because i feel they need it more(maybe its just the American information i am fed, but i just know that India is a more poorer country in general...correct me here). Hopefully relations will also improve and not just economical prospects.

Whether one of the two countries is poorer is difficult to say. There are extreme economic divisions in India, with a huge majority being illiterate and poor, a small middle-class minority, and an even smaller upper-class minority. It's possible to move around - my dad's family went from poor to upper-middle-class in one generation (my mom was always kinda upper-class, isn't that how it always works ). I'd say the division is about 90%-9%-1%, but those are very biased and unsubstantiated based on my experiences there.

O wow thats interesting @_@ Well...in either case best of wishes for both country's futures to get better than they are now. Who knows? I can certainetly see India and China being a much more developed and better country than they are now in the future. So lets hope it all goes well. <3

Yeah, I noticed this too. It was in the newspaper this morning.
I also have a bad feeling about this, but I didn't find any information on the quotations of 'new world order'... maybe it was a bad translation. Wen didn't really state such a thing; I doubt somehow he would.

Dude, here I am going on about how we should form an organization to help promote inter-cultural/national tolerance and interaction and peace, and then it suddenly becomes far less necessary in the world. Cool. I like it when other people do the work before I have to .

I agree.A military alliance wouldn't exactly be in the best interests of good relations with other countries ...

Oh, for Gawd's sake. It's NOT a military alliance!!

I think it's an awesome thing that's happened, for both countries. By new world order...well, I'm pretty sure that's just some thing referring to how Chine and India are both rising economic powers. This means big things for Asia! It should be a great thing!

It also means that relations between China and India (which have been oh-so-very shaky!) are improving. They went to war in 1962! Hel-lo? Don't we all want world peace? Isn't that like, our ultimate goal? (Impossible though it is...). This could mean a whole set of great things for all the poor people who die of starvation in India each day, more jobs, better relation, not needing to live in territory that two countries fight over....(Like Sikkim, apparently. xD Awesome news!).

This subliminal message could be meant for YOU. But it's probably not. Move along ;D

I just hope this doesn't lead to more outsourcing of the computer industry jobs.

Perhaps it's selfish, but it's not something I'd like to see.

    Otherwise, I think it's a grand idea.

A lot of us put more value on our freedom than on peace.

I say it's good that they've got a better relationship, and this gives both countries opportunities to improve their quality of life.

Agreed. xD But...in this instance I think it's great that peace can be achieved through these little negotiations.

The USA doesn't seem to be against it...openly. Yet.

Anyway, the U.S. has just agreed an open skies policy with India, which should bring them closer. In my view, anything that brings countries closer together is a good thing. You're not going to change China's human rights record by holding them to ransom. Discourse is better than a stand-off, even if it means dealing with some unsavoury types.
