    Transfer an LP onto my computer, what do I need?

    Assuming your LP player has a stereo output (two coax cables, one white, one red usually), and if your sound card only has a minijack mic plug (stereo), then all you need is a stereo coax (female) -> minijack (male) adapter/cable. Plug LP player into adapter into mic plug, start favorite audio recorder, play LP. Then you can split the recording into songs and use some tool to lower the cracking sound and stuff, then encode that to whatever you want (mp3, ogg, ...).
    If you have one of these SB cards with a front panel, you might have a coax stereo input which you can directly use.
