Golden Sun is one of the best GBA Rpg games in my opinion. But ya know, you should buy Golden Sun: The Lost Age, because it is longer, you have more characters and you can fusion summons.

Yes. It's a great game, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Some of the characters lacked definition, but it was generally a fun game and the story was intriguing.
