Final Fantasy VIII has been sitting on my shelf collecting dust since I failed to beat it about 3 years ago. I don't remember my stats at the time I tried to defeat the end boss, all I remember is spending 3 HOURS in battle, defeating one boss after another, and never getting close to the end. Finally, I was wiped out.
I was extremely upset at the outcome. I don't mind difficult bosses for the end battle, but to have the battle last 3 hours and getting wiped out was not what I would call "an enjoyable experience."
I do plan on, one day, playing it again and trying to complete it. Maybe after I complete Lord of the Rings: The Third Age, and after I beat Final Fantasy VII again. Who knows.

Yes, that's true. Ifrit doesn't level up... but that's only because he is the first boss. Every singel other boss in the game (except Omega who's permanent at level100) levels up with your characters. But most bosses have a max and minimum level limmit that they can't pass. For example... the false president boss will never be able to get to level 100 etc.

You just should find Ruby Weapon in underwear from somewhere. Rinoa scanned Ultima Shadow and found out it's his weakness, u remember? Okay, sorry for offtopic.
As for topic, I remember Ultimecia was quite easy. I had been using the stupid little minigame (can't remember the name) to get 99 friendships and raised my chars to lv 99 to get enough HP. Then I made sure everyone could use items and threw the friendships at her and healed when necessary. No big deal.

Actually, there is a way to get your very own Ruby weapon in underwear. This is slightly off-topic, but...
In FFVI, there is a man in front of the fanatic's tower who offers to tell you a secret if you pay him 100000 (i quess that is proper amount of money). Only in SNES version. Pay him the money. Go to map and return. talk to him again. He will offer to tell you another secret for another 100K GP. Pay him the money. He will say a serie of numbers
(e. g. 5-845-2782-678-1) This changes in every time you play the game. Go away and to your airship. As in our example, head north from the top of Fanatics tower and tap the A button 5 times. Then turn to east and tap the same button 845 times etc. When you get all steps done, land, get off and press A button heading north.
When you get there, PM me and I'll tell you more.

Wow onyl FF gives you such annoyingly difficult side quests to accomplish.
And don't forget... to get Ruby Weapon to put on the underwear, you'll have to beat her without materia in FFVII first.
I've been training at the Island Closest to Heaven with the Vitality and HP bonuses junctioned. Can you believe it? (Puts on high-pitched voice) I gained ten levels in a whole hour at the ICTHeaven!

Why, oh....WHY are you using Rinoa to try and beat Ultimecia? IRVINE a must, QUISTIS a must, and Squall.... only cuz of Lionheart tho.... if you managed to get those wicked bullets *cant remember name* and get Irvine to Break, those bad boys can do 9999 per hit..... and Quistis does Shockwave Pulsar too if given Dark Matter in her breaks..... and that puts a whoopin on those b@$t@rd$! Use Eden if you got her, too.... you can boost her to full with the friggin length of her animation..... but Rinoa? No, hunney....just..........no.
I found her difficult even with maxed stats and Lionheart.
