I'm sure it can be done, but using a board hack and it would probably use up database space and slow things down.
That's definitly a great idea, if it can be implemented easily and wont slow the board down significantly. I'd love to have all my skull smilies right there without having to dig through the other stuff.
It'd require another DB table where the user's smiley preference would be saved. It would also require editing a bunch of the templates. If it hasn't already, the idea should be brought up at the vB forums. I really don't see any need, but whatever.

I agree, it's an interesting feature that vB could consider adding in a future release possibly. To add it manually would be a bit difficult, although creating the table to store the records would be the easy part.
