wow aint you a smartass.Seriously god supports everyone to say what you just said was plain out wrong anyway it was ok but the joke does seem like a waste of forum space.
How is it not self-centered? It mocks the other point of view, paints atheists as jerks, and makes Christians and the military these noble folks, who, by the way, are completly allowed to punch other people in the face for their opposing views. What if it had been the other way around? What if a Christian guy had been standing there and saying "Hey, God totally does exist, those of you who dont believe it are stupid!" and an atheist punched him in the face? (I cant think of some witty 'knock off the table deal'). It's a very propoganda based peice of writing (and yes, I do believe very strongly in God, but this disgusts me, and my disgust has nothing to do with the Navy SEAL and military themes) and, for people who do believe in a loving God, it seems very counter productive to me.
it paints professors as jerks which is actually true i hate those bastards with apassion yet i have to get through them as an opstical lol.
but seriously if that really was to happen i wouldnt be surprised since people are never the same after they experience combat.

there is nothing wrong with that. If some prof wants to go dissing things he knows nil about he desrved whatever he got

Imagine that, a conservative joke gets heckeled in these liberal forums.
Liberal, conservative, it doesn't matter. If the joke is stupid, it get's knocked.

Very adult. Don't lump people all together. Just because people arent the same doesnt give them the right to beat people. My dad spent two and a half tours of duty in Vietnam, but it doesnt mean he can smack people around.

And as to the 'getting heckled by liberals', is it so 'liberal' to think it's wrong to punch someone in the face because they say something you dont agree with? I thought that was a basic concept we learned in grade school.

bah tehre ar eplenty of people to attack im simply not gonna argue with you.You lump people up also which makes you a hyprocrit. Are you attacking.

anyway dude it was wrong but the professor in this joke deserved it due to the fact that it is a waste of classtime. And relaly a lot of professors are true bastards. Some just walk in and tell you when the test are and just walks out. They can do that..Not giving a lecture is bastardly and a lot of them do it.

Where do I lump up anyone?

So, if you waste my class time, I can punch you in the face? And I really dont care that a lot of professors are bastards. That doesnt make all of them bastards for one, and for two, it STILL doesnt give anyone the right to assult someone. Not giving a lecture is a bastardly thing to do? You really need to get your priorities straight.

And I still dont know why everyone's calling this thing a joke. Isnt it supposed to be one of those 'inspiring stories'?

Well like i said when you experience combat your never the same person you were before hand.

  8. #38
I'm not saying they are. But that doesnt make it okay to hurt another person. Period. It's not okay to hurt someone because they're wasting time or saying something another person disagrees with, or even just being a jerk in general. Every student in that (fictional) classroom has the option of getting up and walking out if they didnt like it.

dude this thing is a joke oyu act liek what im saying is what i want people to do to each other in real life.I'm taking the thing as a joke i dont know how you are taking it but this is my last post for tonight

It doesn't matter if you "change" after fighting in a war, you are still obligated to follow the basic code of conduct and propriety in our society. That means not being allowed to hit someone just because you think they're "being a bastard".

  11. #41
What? If you arent relating this to real life, then how is the combat thing relevant? I'm not saying what you want people to do to eachother in real life, but you seem to be trying to justify it, which is what I'm responding to.

Awesome, so now I can hit you because I think that comment was ignorant? Sweet! *hits*[/sarcasm]

I certainly hope that's not how you actually think.

  13. #43
I don't see how the "you change from combat" thing would apply here. It's referring to the SEAL as having a tough, don't-take-no-crap, I-ain't-got-time-to-put-up-with-this attitude, not somebody who has been in war and thinks punching random people is perfectly fine. Yes, being in combat changes people. A lot. Ask any modern soldier (that's seen combat), and we didn't have it anywhere near as bad as soldiers did in Vietnam. But unless you're one of those people, you don't realize how, or to what extent, it changes you.

If the story had said the guy PUSHED the professor off the platform, would that make y'all happy? Obviously this story probably isn't 100% true, it may have been somewhat based from a true scenario but chances are it was made up to convey a message, not tell a nonfictional story.

  14. #44
I still dont see how that makes it okay to punch someone. And no, it wouldnt make me happy if he'd pushed the guy. I dont believe anyone has the right to punch or push anyone, for any reason short of being assulted by the other person in the first place.

I'm sure this story isnt true at all. I'm merely saying that I dont agree with people who're saying the man deserved it, or it's okay, because I dont believe it is. It'd have pissed me off if anyone did it, no matter what their profession is. I dont see how it's an inspirational story, because I dont see how it's a good thing to assult someone who has a different view. It's certainly not like I agree with the fictional professor, I just dont think its okay to assult someone.

Alright, what if he picked up the professor, carried him off the platform, then set him down? Would that work?
