I figure that we have to keep them out of society forever. No cure seems possible, and I don't think it's a good idea to allow them to be anywhere near a kid when they feel the urge, because they will act upon those urges eventually. So we have a few choices.
First -- shoot 'em. Not the most humane thing ever, but there is no chance that they'd escape. And you'd get plenty of volenteers to throw the switch.
Second -- High Security Prison. From their perspective, far better than execution. The problem here is that the prison is expensive.
Third -- Leper colony approach. Get an unoccupied island, throw up a fence and leave them there. Cheap, except for the initial cost of the fence. Rebuild alcatraz or something.
Fourth -- Electronic monitoring. Chaep yes, but who's gonna be watching 24/7 to make sure that he doesn't get near a kid. Actually proposed in Florida.
