The part that I'm assuming refers to the horse also calls it 'My friend', and I believe the only one who is really connected to it in any way is Odin, but he doesn't seem to fit the rest of the riddle. This could mean that it doesn't refer to the horse. Either way, Odin and Sleipnir (is that the correct spelling?) are my guess.

I seem to think of the gardens, but that doesn't fit, because the second garden is Galbedia Garden, which you don't need the first garden, Balamb Garden, to reach, as it is easily accessible by foot.
