I would just like to update everyone now that the situation has become even MORE apalling. This even obviously made it into the news paper. However, notonly did it make it into the paper, but the paper released her name AND a picture of her. Of course, because it is the news, they picked the worst possible picture they could get. It didn't even look like her. They intentionally made her look like some kind of evil beast.

She is currently being held in a juvenile prison, and the she faces two felony charges and something else. The prosecution wants her tried as an adult. Of course, that's typical of prosecutors. It's thier job to be an abomination to human kind. I am tempted to do something on her behalf. I agree, she is in the wrong because of what she did. But what is happening to her is atrocious from a moral standpoint. I have never been so pissed at my community before. I am pissed at the school, I am pissed at the media, at the law and at the police. Everybody is in the wrong here and NOBODY is taking any steps to make things right. The "good guys" are nothing but malicious assholes right now. They are doing everything in thier power to make this worse for everyone. I am incredibly F****ing pissed right now!

What makes it worse is the feeling of being helplessness despite how much you hate the situation

Yeah... It's horrible. I know right from wrong but the people in power most certainly don't. I have compassion, they don't. They have a say. I don't.

    That's not you.

It is unfortunate people overreact. I'd point to 9/11, myself. True, this hyperreaction prevents people like me from, say, stealing someone's car and putting on the roof of our four-story library, you know, things which used to be normal. But, in the words of someone very special, whatyagonnado.
that actually did happen. But the school didnt blow up so no harm done.Threats don't scare me.

It's all politics. Sadly, much of the media has degenerated into overpaid asses looking only at the bottom line. Same applies to politicians. This is obviously the "big story" right now, Columbine is still fresh in many minds after all, and they know it will sell and sell big. If the life of one girl needs to be destroyed for such a profit, what do they care?

She threatened to kill people (which is a crime in itself), got arrested and went to jail. Because of this, the community decided to step up on security, probably because they didn't see this coming and want to be prepared for future events. It made the news because it was an odd event that had an impact on the community. Those things are reasonable from my point of view.

The messed up parts are the school's handing out of info and the mixture of law enforcement. This is mainly due to inefficiency. The school was basically playing a game of "Guess Who?", probably undermining the investigation thus prolonging these panicky circumstances. On the law enforcement issue, normal police should usually be separate from undercover cops. Except in extream circumstances that is. This is because undercover agents are used to keep suspicion levels low while the regular officers stand out like a red flag. This obviously makes a contradiction. I think that in this case, due to the fact that everything is already under control, regular law enforcement alone would do just fine. In fact, anything more then a few extra security guards seems to be a bit over the top.

On the parents issue, if I know one thing about parents, it's that they will always worry. Always. Trust me on that one. This ordeal just brought that worriment out up front on their list of concerns. They'll calm back down in a few months, probably.

My advice; take a step back from the situation to clear your head out. Maybe it'll make you feel better. You don't really have any power over this so there's really not much else you can do. It might not be the best advice in the world but hey, it's all I've got.
Look, I'm a strange person. When I was younger, nothing used to make me laugh any harder then when somebody made fun of me. Unfortunatly for me, my mockers looked at me strangely and stopped when I did this. Go figure.

I have 3 maps of my school, I play violent video games, and I have uttered "Wtf! I'm going to kill you!" I should be arrested ya?

Dead threats, serious or not, should not be taken lighty, there's been way too many episodes in America about kids killin' others at school.

Not disagreeing that death threats shouldn't be taken seriously, but actually very few students are killed in school every year. In the 60's the numbers were around 50, but they've gotten consistently less and less as time went on. I believe even when Columbine occurred, the number still decreased from the year before.

I have heard the same thing. That the the deaths in schools trend is going down. That is overall of course(such as a 10 year span). of course all I got is what I heard and not actual statistics but meh.

Basic security and effecient police and death threats would be dealt with without these sort of "prevenitive measures". I mean it can't be too hard to allow teachers to be armed with tasers.. and I am certian that would drop someone fairly quickly. only real problem I see is that a taser's range isn't all that great.(21 to 25 ft if I recall, perhaps they should research to increase the range. Then again inside a building 21 to 25 ft is not exactly improbably to get inrange of).

STILL Updating the anime list. . . I didn't think I was that much of an anime freak! I don't even want to consider updating the manga list!

I remember my days in middle school, there was several incidents. One kid was telling his friends that he was going to blow up the school because he hated all the faculty. The only thing he brought were a bunch of stink bombs, and he was expelled from school the following day. Another was threatening to come to school with his dad's gun and blow the vice principal's head off. After I first heard about that, there was about five days after that, that the kid actually brought a magnum to school. He was caught before things could have went down, which I'm glad for. It was in his locker, loaded and everything. He was expelled, but I can't remember if he got any charges or anything out of the ordinary. This was all before that Columbine shooting, so things were more easy going than it is now.

There's a dark side in me that was glad when Columbine happened... After I heard they singled out jocks and stuff. Preps. All that. People that make high school miserable for social outcasts. Killing is horrible. But the fact that for once they had to think about consequinces of how they treated others, it was a nice change. Sad it had to be that way. The real problem these days is they focus on the screwed up kids. Not dealing with WHY the kids are screwed up. I would mandate that respect and manners and stuff should be taught and upheld. If they can't treat each other like human, MAKE them treat each other like human. Though I myself was a social outcast. And for that (something I didn't do myself mind you, let alone intentionally) people feared that I would bring about the next Columbine after it happened. People were afraid of me lol... Though my senior year rocked. EVERYONE suddenly got along. I think Columbine made 'em think. Either that or they just simply got over themselves (thank god). But yeah... there's my two cents... Don't put much weight to it. I'm not a sadist or anything. I just had my fantasies like any other ostricized kid those days. Violence should never be a last resort. But people should consider the consequinces of their actions and how they treat each other... And the school should look into those issues.

I guess the police figured it'd be better to be seen to be doing too much, rather than too little.
