I was a Sophomore when Colombine went down. Even before then my school always had a cop on duty and a school "security gaurd" (he wasn't a real cop) there. Even before columbine at all bomb threats the entire school was evacuated and the fire department and police showed up. We would have 9-10 in a two week period, it would die down, then it would start all over again. I agree that many people overreact to your situation but it is because they feel they have to do something and calling the school seems to bet the only thing they can do. Multiple cops and undercover cops is going to far though. All is does is create more drama which people crave because it's different from their normal average day.
