I eschew the controversial "soda" and "pop" monikers and instead just call it "caffeine". Who needs the bubbly water and caramel, I say. I don't refer to orange juice as "pasteurized orange concentrate", I don't refer to fruit snacks as "hyrdolized corn syrup", so I'm not about to go around calling caffeine "soda".

Not surprisingly, non-caffeinated soda/pop (including the clear, lemon-lime varieties) are designated as "non-caffeine".

Why are we still talking about pop vs. soda. The real issue here is how gay dave van dommelen. From what I hear he is really gay.

you call it by it's name, just not at first.

    "Hey, are you thirsty?"
    "Yeah, gimme a coke."
    "What kind?"
    "Hmm. . Dr. Pepper."
    "Aite"
    "Thanks man"

It depends. Sometimes I call it pop and sometimes I call it soda. But never soda-pop! Or I just call it by the product name. It varies from time to time.

I call most of it "Coke", and get made fun of for it.

    "Hey, you want a coke?"
    "Sure, I'll take one."
"Alright, we got Mountain Dew, root beer, or some diet stuff."
    "You moron."

Whereas Coca-Cola, by brand name, is referred to as "coke-cola".

And there are things that don't qualify as "cokes", as a matter of fact. Slice, Fanta, Shasta, Miranda, Crush, and other fruit-flavored sodas should not be considered "coke", but rather, "soda", because that's what they are. It still isn't technically wrong to refer to one as a "coke", but it's not the preferred label.

It would technically be correct to refer to everything as "soda", but definitely not "pop".

I just call it a 'drink'.

"Hey I'm just going to get a drink."
    "Aight cool, man."

If asked what drink it is, It's none of your business.
