well i don't hate him; I just think he's a boring character...i've seen it too many times; the dark-cold loner who walks alone;and eventually turns out to be a great teamate and becomes a great friend--....so repetitive...Originally Posted by blackchocobo9999

He is a very undeveloped character, Square basically took Eiko's last name (Carol) and mixed it up a little to make Coral.
And like you said, it's been done too many times. Square just stuck him in there because they couldn't think of anyone else.
