    Default Kidnappings in Iraq

There has been another hostage taken in Iraq, an Australian this time go here http://www.news.com.au/story/0,10117,15150358-2,00.html for full story. My questions (sorry if this has been done before)
Do you think the troops and others have done enough in Iraq and should leve now?
Have you seen the hostage execution videos? (I haven't)
I personally think that no military should be in Iraq and as Douglas Wood says "Take the troops out of here and let Iraq take care of itself"
And what do you think the response of George Bush and John Howard would be if it were them, another politician or a member of their family in this situation?

the troops in Iraq have done what they set out to do they brought down and captured a truly evil man, that was 1 and a half years ago, i really think it is time we left the Iraq government especially now that civilians are being taken hostage and brutaly killed

I think the troops should stay in Iraq. It is sad that someone else has been taken hostage, but John Howard won't pull out the Australian troops.

If a member or close friend was taken hostage as emotional as it would be for the Prime Minister, he'd have to stick his ground and leave the troops in. There would be to much at stake for him if he gave into personal feelings.

Why? Have you actually seen the Berg vid (or any of the others)? It's pretty barbaric. I can't imagine wishing that on somebody.

Although your tagline animation seems to say it all.

Well if htis keeps up eventually one country that gets one of their citizens held captive will just say"We don't negogiate with Terrorist."Then never respond to the threats.Sure its cold hearted because now that citizen has to be a Martyr.

But I think if that happens. They'll have to find another way to get countries to pull out of Iraq.

My opinion is we should pull out.We are over extended.Don't disagree either because people in reserves are now going to iraq.

Kidnapping, torturing and murdering westerners - usually civilian contractors - isn't going to solve any of the problems that Iraq currently faces. It is pretty obvious that the governments of the nations whose civilians have been kidnapped will never back down to these demands, and rightly so.

The fact is, if they want troops to withdraw then they're making the situation worse. Their demands can't be met, otherwise terrorist groups would be kidnapping westerners left, right and centre in order to get their way. Not to mention that the governments are much more likely to withdraw their troops when Iraq is stable, ie when trouble, such as kidnapping, has stopped happening, although it is unlikely to happen any time in the near future.

We cant simply abandone the Iraqi people without stabilizing their country, i mean the USA did knock out their government. Millions of people depend on there being a government in that country to keep the order, and until they can do that we have to being supporting them every step of the way.

Yea i watched the Nick Berg beheading, once it has an eternal space on my hard drive, but i will never watch it again. It was horrible...

If I'm not mistaken, hundreds of Americans die or take severe injury in Ford facilities each year (Chevy too, sure, I'm not targeting any producer of cars, this is just a casualty rate for a dangerous job, and an unfortunate one).

Terrorists are idiots if they think that they can push their homocidic motives by threatening 1 or 100 or even 1000 individual lives.
If they were a threat, then they'd hold open war with us because they would have that capability. Right now, it would be senseless to back down to such imbecillic ideas.

For example, say you have a knife to a guy's throat, and you mean to kill him. Suddenly, he uses an ancient technique called, say, "biting" and "bites" your finger.

    Do you:
    A. Slit his accursed throat?
    B. Toss away your knife, lay on your back with your legs spread, and offer him your steel toed boots to help reinforce his exactingly painful vengeance.

    I'd choose A.

But I can understand how some people would choose B. Apparently, human saliva, say from a bite, could cause serious bacterial infection that may require the loss of an arm. Some people aren't willing to sustain the loss of an arm and would rather die than live a life of suffering or as a cripple.
That, however. my friends and foes, has never been an American philosophy.

Well really this is Bush's fault for taking Iraq and getting rid of Saddam.Once Anarchy started and Martial Law started.Baghdad was liek a vaccum and it jsut attracted terrorist. Most of those "insurgents" aren't even Iraqi's.
