I don't like that argument. The Lib Dems only got 14% less of the vote than Labour. It's only because we have this stupid first-past-the-post system that they don't do a lot better. And saying that they aren't an option is absurd. Getting votes is the only way things will change.

I can't believe so many people want the conservatives in! They strike me as rather out of touch with ordinary people.
I only said tactically, ie, if you want Labour out. The Lib Dems can gain MPs, certainly, but due to FPTP they will never get in government. And it's the government that matters. They're the ones that make law (OK, theoretically a Lib Dem MP can introduce legislation, but without government backing it's unlikely to go far), they're the ones that control the executive. If you want a Lib Dem to represent your constituency, ok sure, go ahead, but if you want to vote for a government it really is only Labour or the Conservatives.

The Tories strike me as being very much in touch with ordinary people. Most of the country is opposed to the Euro, so are the Tories. Most of the country want to be tough on crime, so are the Tories. Most of the country want tighter immigration control, so do the Tories. Most of the country want cleaner hospitals, so do the Tories.

Anyway, I also thought I'd post a fun statistic I learned today:
The Conservatives gained 60,000 more votes in England than Labour did, but Labour still gained 92 more MPs there.
