Like just for homework and researching, ect? Sure, though I'd still get a PC for such purposes myself.Originally Posted by Chef

I like Kung-Fu.
you'll need a rubber!
Apples are great (especially since they never get all those viruses that constantly crash college computers on the network), but I'd find out which computer os your school mainly uses (most colleges have some kind of deal with certain models, for instance, my undergrad was configured for iMacs and Dells), and its often cheaper to buy your computer through the school. If you do that, many schools will service your computer for free (my grad school will even fix/replace broken iPods for free if you buy them through the school).
Other essentials:
Mini Fridge
Britta (most water at college sucks)
Lots of Ramen
Iron
Quarters, quarters, quarters (unless you want to quarter whore)
Cinder Blocks (Or something else to loft your bed with so you can store things underneath it)
Plastic Tubs to store things in
Sticky Hooks
Lightbulbs
A hammer, screwdriver, and nails
EXTENSION CORDS
Control Strips that let you plug a million things into one socket
PENCIL SHARPENER
Stapler
Crates or stackable shelves
A TV with a crazy antenna (to try to get the one station that comes in)
Shot glasses
Dry Erase Board
Christmas Lights (no college room exists without them in my experience)
Tissues
Frabreeze
A spounge
A vacumn or carpet sweeper
A carpet (if you have wood floors)
White toothpaste (to stick in all the holes you're gonna make in your walls)
And as much free stuff as you can carry away from home. Every time I go home to visit I steal shampoo, quarters, Tylenol, and a million other little things I can't afford to buy.

Flashlight
Scooter/Bicycle

Cheap Silverware
Hiding places
Somewhere to keep your change
Playstation 2

Possibly a pool cue. You don't want to use the university's.
All the toiletries, toothbrush, razor, shampoo, etc.
Pain reliever, antacids
Red Bull or caffeine pills.
Lots and lots and lots of socks, trust me.
A few towels you don't mind totally destroying, this is important.
Pocket knife
Trash bags, tons
Malt-o-Meal
Microwave perhaps
Alarm clock
Lamps
Headphones
Good reading material or handheld tetris
A carpet or rug, it's waaaaaaaaay better than a hard floor

Data cables for a laptop
Sticky tack, thumb tacks, staples, tape, etc.
Poncho
Blanket for going outside
Sturdy shoes of several types
I don't know about Canada, but sandals are vital
Any more questions, just ask away, Chef.
YOU MUST COOK ME SOME YUMMIE FOOD. You promised!![]()
People smell. So if you're dorming, Fabreeze is a must.
You'll need some kind of Lysol spray if you're like me and get really wierd about sitting on the same toilet as at least 3 other guys.
Any kind of computer will be fine unless you're doing very specific techie design stuff that Apple is best at. That's stuff that I don't know much about though, and, generally, anything with a word processor and DSL capability will be perfectly fine. Personally, I like to have at least 400Mhz, so I'll suggest that.
Don't forget a laundry basket of sorts...
I guess a computer means you won't need a cd player, but you'll still need your cds. Other than that, and school supplies, you can get what you really need on short notice. Don't bring too much crap with you, you have no idea how much you'll have to do. Anything you bring other than a walkman to listen to music to while studying outside will probably do little more than sit around and gather dust.
the will to live. in fact bring a couple extra in case you lose yours.
Everything you need to survive as of right now, and a place to put it all, because most schools don't offer that.
And at LEAST one sweat shirt, one cowboy hat, and one pair of ridiculously expensive flip flops. In Chapel Hill, they wear Rainbows, which are something like $45.00 a pair.
Signature by rubah. I think.
but after it rains and the sun comes out rainbows are free.
and oddly enough, I made it through all four years of college without owning any sandals.
Yeah, but those rainbows don't have a lifetime guaranteeOriginally Posted by eestlinc

Duct tape.
That boggles my mind. You didn't even have shower sandals?Originally Posted by eestlinc

Oh and according to the 10 Commandments of College, you need a hoodie.
