Thread: Final Fantasy 7: One of the most succesful Games?

I'm new here but in my personal opinion FF7 is the greatest FF game, even greatest game I have played up to now. I haven't played either 3,4, or 5 but I think it is certainly the best Final Fantasy of all time. It was the first game to actually get me into the series and the only game I recommended to my friends for a long time.

I love FFVII, it was the first Final fantasy game that I played, and after I completed it about 3 times, all I wanted to do is play more.
Yeah I think its a really successful game.

Yes FFVII is a great game. But...........

You guys who were not around to have experienced NES and when gaming went 8-bit (the true turning point in the gaming industry's history), should try FF1 in the NES. Then go and compare it to other games released on the NES at that time. (Download an old NES emulator, and try the various games). Then you'll see groundbreaking stuff. Yes its very archaic, and old, with terrible 8-bit graphics and sounds, but just compare it to the frickin Atari. Even compare it to The Legend of Zelda, or Super Mario on the NES, and even other RPGs on the NES platform. It kicked everyone's a$$ with its depth, and storyline.

Man, me and all my friends back then were so addicted to FF1. It was hilarious. We'd all congregate at someone's house, and instead of playing sports, or hide and seek, we'd all sit around the tv and take turns playing Final Fantasy all day long.

Yes, FFVII was a great game, and an incredible step up from FF IV, V and VI. But don't let it take away from the original. FFI was the true pioneer of the entire Final Fantasy series.

To be honest, I prefer FFVIII, and FFX to FFVII. That's probably because I played VIII before VII, due my time away from gaming because of university, when FFVII was released. FFI however was shining star and a pioneer in its time. Kinda like what Jimi Hendrix was to the guitar and rock music.

I guess all I'm saying is that FFI deserves more credit.

yeah ffvii is my favourite game of all time - even after playing its successors it still holds its ground - to me ffviii was a masterpiece, ffix was just as great, i loved the characters and graphics, ffx was so disappointing and ffx2 was jus plain boring - but even after all them ffvii is awesome - i really hope square reinvent the series like they did on ps1 - the ps2 games are gorgeous to look at but didnt do it for me - hopefully they can redeem themselves wit ffxii

The only game to really challenge it (in terms of sales and popularity) is Zelda: The Ocarina of Time.

I believe Super Mario Bros. 3 was the best selling game of all time, unless my facts are wrong (not uncommon).
Boy am I an unfunny ass.
