Jack: How do you know?
Will: It's more of a feeling really.
Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?
Will: No.
If Demolition Man were remade today
Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
Huxley: NO!
Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
Spartan: But Huxley.
Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.
By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
Funny, I always thought English Kenshin sounded like a rapist or a cult leader. I HATE Rurouni Kenshin english voices.I don't watch a lot of anime, but there are some shows that I just like the English acting better. Such as Cowboy Bebop (though both are fine) and Rurouni Kenshin. I highly dislike Kenshin's Japanese voice. *shrugs* To me, his English voice sounds more realistic.
Another thing to remember with subtitles is that since lip synchronization isn't as big a concern, especially given the size of Japanese words vs. their English equivalent, you can generally do a better, more precise translation with subtitling.
You've made this statement several times yet I've not seen any evidence at all in this thread to support it. Obviously there are people like that, but as nobody in this thread is saying that, it's mighty irrelevant, is it not?
I agree though that there can be better dubbing both ways. Again, there are plenty of anime/video games that the Japanese is better, IMO. But it seems like some fans like the Japanese voice acting better JUST BECAUSE IT'S JAPANESE (cough otaku cough) and that seems a bit biased to me.
I know they sound different, but they both have voices that can be big and powerful - Barret-esque, you might say. While they're different from each other, they could both suit Barret.Originally Posted by Mercen-X

And Void, have you ever heard the Japanese version of Saiyuki? Nails on a chalkboard.

I agree with abominatrix, the only reason they were able to get celebrity voices for kingdom hearts was bc of the pull of disney in america....square enix could have never done it alone.Originally Posted by TheAbominatrix
i think getting the VAs from kingdom hearts to do the voice for FFAC is reasonable
since the english voices in KH are great~!
just hope Steve Burton will do Cloud again in AC, coz he's also doing the VA for the Cloud in KH2
I'd like some decent VA all the Japanese VA is perfect except for Barret and Cid IMO.
It'd be funny if Spehiroth or Vincent got bad VAs heh Fangirls will pummel SE to shreads
