final fantasy 8 bad graphics......

ok, i need a little help. i just got final fantasy 8 and really wanted to play. it installed ok and every thing, but when i play the graphics are VERY poor, the movie clips are great but the game play stinks!

is there any way to fix it?

i have a 2.8 gig intel, windows xp, gforce fx 5200 video card, viewsonic monitor and i got a lot of other goodies, i tryed messing with the config but i dont know why it looks so bad, please help..

...Define "really poor"... How do the graphics compare to those of say, FFVII? FFX, X2, and Kingdom Hearts all had much better graphics than VIII (since VIII was originally for the PS, and the others were for PS2, that's understandable). Or did they seem bad even in light of that information?

Do they look worse than the FF8 screenshots? If not, than thats what you get, buddy.

lets just say it looks like a gamboys graphics and i know they should be better, but i dont know how to make them better, i want to cry

It's probably your color settings. Check the manual to see what it needs to be. Otherwise I'd try 32-bit true color or something. Though I'm not techie, but I would assume everything else is running fine if the game actually plays o.o

Yeah, it's definitely some 3D Acceleration/video related issue, because the PC version has great graphics (superior to that of the PSX version atleast).

in battle, sometimes the character's faces look messed up. in-game graphics should be more like BB2. BB2 has one of the best in-game character designs.

ok guys, my graphics setting's for the game and my computer as high as it gets.

but the game graphics suck, i mean i KNOW they are suppose to look better, it's like there just messed up on my computer, i already tryed updating the game with the gfroce patch and i updated a video card drivers.

it still suck! is there a setting i need to change to make it look nice??

please help, i really want to play the game!

Im pretty sure it looks worse on the pc than Play station.

Maybe there's an option on the game's configuration/menu for the color settings? You should take a printscreen so we can see what you're talking about. I can't imagine the actual game polygons going whacky. So I'm concentrating on color/bit problems.

The computer version of FFVII had a configuration application that let you change the graphics resolution of the game. I don't remember if FFVIII had a similar program, but it's worth a shot...

ok, this is weird, i took a screen shot of the game play and when i looked at the screen shot it looks good, but when im playing the game it looks like crap. i have the setting for the colors high and stuff. the resolution for the game play is set at 640 x 480 16 Bpp, any way to make it higher?

FFVIII was originally a playstation game. i believe the PC version is just a direct translation. according to most games today, yeah, the graphics to FFVIII suck. but according to graphics from the time they were great. why should graphics matter anyways? the graphics for FFVII suck more than the graphics for VIII, and people still play that game all the time.

dude, if you saw what im looking at you wouldn't want to play it, the grophics are suppose to look better then what im seeing, i hear the the graphic aren't all that good but what im seeing is like a game from like the 80's.

I don't see how they manage good CG graphics with bad ingame graphics.
