It's basically a cheap cut of steak that's tenderized a bit, then battered (like chicken) and fried. Served with a type of gravy over it, usually made with the sauces/oils/etc. that are in the pan when you're done cooking. It tastes better than is sounds.
How can you live in OK and not know what chicken fried steak is?

That looks well tasty. Without the sauce it'd probably be a bit more cardio-friendly though. I almost wet myself when I saw the salad smothered in that lard derivative in the first picture - would you really be better off eating that?
