Nope. I liked him quite a bit and didnt find him annoying at all.
Hmm... no one was really annoying.
I thought Wakka was hilarious at times! Like when he tried to (SPOILER)cheer Rikku up after her (SPOILER)home exploded, he said (SPOILER)"it's like happy fireworks, ya!?" What an idiot!
But the funniest scenes with Wakka are when he gets pissed off. When (SPOILER)Luzzu breaks the news about his brother and it zooms up on Wakka's face, and he punches him in the face. Hilarious. Also, later on Bikanel Island the same thing happens when Rikku is trying to say something, I forget. It zooms up on his face and he makes a "HNNG!??" grunting noise. Hilarious.
I don't know why you'd think he was annoying, really. The only person remotely annoying on the team was Tidus in my opinion.

Wakka is actually one of my favorite FF characters. I mean, he's an islander and you don't get too many islander characters in FF games.

Not at all. I think he's one of the best characters in the game. His story is really well fleshed out - retiring blitzball player, devout follower of Yevon, etc, which really humanizes him. He's consistant, and his island accent is pretty realistic. He doesn't talk for the sake of hearing himself speak - he really has opinions and thinks quite a bit about things. Also, he's the best looking guy in the game, IMHO.
I really enjoyed watching him deal with his prejudices when he finds out Rikku is an Al Bhed. I thought X really excelled in having very human reactions, Wakka especially. He doesnt just stop disliking the Al Bhed, it takes him a long time and a lot of thought.

He could be funny at times, I'll admit, but I have to say he is probably my least favorite playable character. Just to annoying for me to handle. That, and he DEFINATELY didn't deserve Lulu! (She's MINE, you island freak!!!)
I liked him. He was funny, like Gwelenguchenkus said, when it zooms on his face it hilarous! The first one was in the Kilika forest when Yuna said she wanted Tidus around. HAHAHAHA!!! I always look forward to that part. His prejuicism wasn't good, but he eventually got out of it, which made me like him more. I though he was funny... *shrug* I was surpised when I saw there were alot of people that didn't like him. I mean, I know every character has their haters, but Wakka had A LOT, and I don't think he should. He wasn't the best character ever, but he was still frickin' awesome!
I thought it was funny that he accused Auron of being an Al Bhed at some point after getting worked up over the revealing.
He's voiced by Bender the Robot. How could he possibly be annoying?

Other than that, I like him. He's a good character, with good development and such.
Isn't Tidus's voice actor someone in futurama too?
According to IMDB Tidus's guy did background voices.
Wakka's great.
Wakka was my favorite character, he was the fresh air the game needed.
