So yeah, aside from being the funniest Penny Arcade comic ever...
What's the stupidest thing anyone has ever said to you on or about the internet?
I remember someone telling me they'd "haxxed" their firewall so they could get AIM to work, in the end I found out they'd just turned it off when later on they asked me how you could turn a firewall back on.
When I used to play Starcraft years ago, I remember every single person threatening me when I won "I'm going to hack your computer!" When they very obviously didn't even know enough about computers to seriously damage my computer if they were sitting at the keyboard.
The stupidest things are the things that have nothing to do with technicalities, but the people themselves that said it...
I guess I should explain. I've heard a lot of stupid and impossible things from people, but the ones that really stick with me are the ones that don't have to do with the Internet themselves, but just things that show the true ignorance of the person that said it — often exaggerating or distorting details of the personal life so that they can impress others or feel better about themselves as if the Internet is their playing ground! It's terrible for them in the end, though, so I try not to worry about it!
I believe in the power of humanity.
I dunno, plenty of stupid things.
I'd love the power to be able to smack people off of the internet though, that'd be awesome, if possible.

The whole "copy paste, DUH!" thing deserves to be in this thread.
The commercial for Sahara hotel and casino says you get access to special offers if you "click on the internet"... o.O

Anyway, it's really hard to say. I've had more unbelievably stupid things said to me on 4chan's random board in the last 2 months alone that I'm truly scared for humanity....more than I already was.
