So did A Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time, and they had fewer side quests, too.
Ocorina of time was definately the best by far...
There are three games in the series which I consider brilliant. They are the original, A Link to the Past, and Link's Awakening.
As far as Zelda two is concerned, it is probably in a category right below those three. It was a very innovative idea, but the balance of difficultly could have used a bit more work.
As far as the others go, I've got mixed feelings. Some are alright, some aren't. At the absolute bottom of my Zelda list is the Windwaker. By god I absolutely cannot stand that game. I've been playing it on and off for two years and I still haven't beaten it. I've been giving it so many chances simply because it's a Zelda game. Now I'm at a part where I have to do this incredible amount of BS busywork gathering some triforce pieces or something, and I'm about ready to throw that damn thing to the back of a dusty shelf. I just pray the new Zelda is going to be above cute little shenanigans like that.
To hell with Battletoads and Double Dragon.

The Legend of Zelda on the Nes. My Dad went out and bought a Ninetendo and that at the same time. Then he played it non-stop until he beat it, all the while building up my own anticipation. Then, I finally got to play it! I beat it when I was 5In my prime I could beat it in 45 minutes.

Okay, I've only finished two (Minish Cap and Four Swords), and lengthily played one (Wind Waker), but I have played some of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask and.. I choose Wind Waker, cos I like easy games =P And I love the graphics, music, everything about it, and just the whole colourful, vibrant, fun, cute feel. My sort of thing ^_^
