FFVI is probably the best of the whole series. Everything about it is incredible. Chrono Trigger is sorta the same deal. It's widely regarded as the most amazing RPG of the 16-bit generation. The story is incredible, combat is fast paced and fun, and the graphics are just astoundingly good for their time.

I only started playing chrono trigger on a rom a few weeks ago. It rocks. I prefer it to FFVI.

I'm fairly sure these are jokes, but if they're not, they're very ignorant. These games were the best of their time bar none. FFVI really broke a lot of ground and made a lot of waves. CT turned everyone with an SNES into a Square fanboy. Trust me on this one. Others may have differing opininos now, but they're both incredible, probably better than any other FF game ever made.

You can't really compare the two games considering it's two completely different series'. People have their own opinions about which they like more, but other than that you can't say that one is better than the other. Play both, and decide for yourself is my best advice.
