Default My school was threatened with a shooting.

    From The Daily News

"Police watch Sackville High after shooting threat found
    By Richard Dooley

SACKVILLE – Extra police will be stationed near Sackville High School today after threats conjuring up images of a Columbine-style shooting were found in a school washroom yesterday afternoon.

The message painted on a wall threatened a shooting at the school, but it’s not known if the threat was directed at specific individuals or made towards students and teachers in general.

The Mounties say they are taking the threat very seriously.

“I can say we are working with the school board to determine where it came from and what measures will be taken,” said Halifax RCMP spokesman Const. Joe Taplin.

Taplin said school officials notified police after the message was found.

“It’s a threat and we do a threat assessment on it and treat it seriously until proven otherwise,” said Taplin.

Halifax Regional School Board chairman Wade Marshall represents the Sackville area and has a daughter attending the school. He was in Sackville High yesterday for the launch of reading week, but wasn’t aware of the threat until informed by The Daily News last night.

Marshall said the threat has to be taken seriously to protect students and staff at the school.

“Given the times over the last few years in North America with violence and high schools, we will be in contact with the authorities and supporting the police in every way we can,” he said.

Marshall said the threat is frightening and brings up images of the April 20, 1999, Columbine high school shooting in Colorado and the Taber, Alta., school shooting later that year that killed one student and left another wounded. Last month, a Minnesota high school student killed nine others before turning a gun on himself.

The Halifax board has dealt with several violent incidents at local high schools, including threats of fights at Cole Harbour High School and several pepper-spraying incidents at other school this year.

“Our policy is to move very, very swiftly to do whatever we can to ensure our students and staff are in a safe environment,” said Marshall.

Taplin said police will remain near the area until it’s determined it’s safe."

I'm sure tons of schools in the United States have had these cases several times a year, but this has never happened to me before. I'm not all that scared, I personally think it's some idiot trying to get some attention, but when I see examples like Columbine, etc, it makes me think.

These people that are killing other people in the schools, most of the time, from what I've noticed, they've been bullied very badly as noone has accepted them, or they have a rough life. What they do is clearly wrong, but it could of been prevented. Anything can be prevented. If we all just treated people with a little more respect, if we said hello to someone who looked down, if we gave them a compliment, anything, it might just make them better, but that's never going to happen because of idiots who are full of themselves.

At our school they found some diary lying around that had a hit list in it. Had a few of the principals, but also had I beleive several Imaginary characters. Got some news though. Thats what we're known for now. My middle school had a bomb threat a year the two years I went there and the year before I went there someone lit a fire in one of the bathrooms.

One time the school I go to claimed we had a bomb threat and sent us out to the stadium for an hour...we found out later they were just searching for drugs. Also, once one of my friends started a "revolution" called Anti-Dixie. Since I live in Georgia, a BUNCH of rednecks at the school became furious and there were rumors there would be a shooting.

We've had several bomb threats. They're clearly just narrow minded idiots trying to get themselves out of school. Why don't they just write a fake note? It's pretty easy.

My old schools had bomb threats almost every month, both primary n secondary schools. Only once was there an actual bomb though. Still, it got us outta class often

Wait, didn't something like this happen in Saint John, New Brunswick a few weeks ago?

Wow. I don't think events like these have happened a lot here in Atlantic Canada, so this is kind of.. well, odd. I'm not really scared or anything, just really suprised. :\

Once at my school, a school bus driver saw a kid with a 'rifle' under his coat go into the school. I was a little late that day, and when I got to the doors, they were locked. Some native girls was ourside and said the school was locked down because there was someone in their with a gun. There were policemen going through the the halls, and shutting off the classrooms, and they were totting these huge guns for some reason. (To take down the armed assailant? )

Well, after all the hubalah, they found out the 'rifle' was just a camera tripod that a student was 'concealing' under his coat because it was raining out.

But since students saw that such a big deal was made there were like 8 bomb threats in the next two years- just kids trying to get out of school by saying they will 'blow up the school at 8:30' through large, bathroom wall graffiti.

    Sad really.

I live in the UK, a country clever enough to completely illegalise guns.

There hasn't been a school shooting in almost 10 years here.

My english teacher told us about this.. it was long before I went to my high school, but there was a bomb threat because someone saw a box in the bathroom and thought it was a bomb, so every sat in the statdum (in the sun) all day and the box turned out to have bible things in it I believe, don't quite remember what was in it, but I believe that was it. The stupid person who saw the box didn't even check it, so they were sitting there all day 'cause of that.

Not anything, not by far. Some people are just evil and want to kill.

Our school was continuously threatened with bombs, and they'd keep calling school off. Okay, fine. Maybe three times. But those were the days....aaah. But seriously?

The psychoest thing that probably happened to us was when a friend of mine tried to jump off the roof (everyone knew the bomb threats were hoaxes. xD)
This subliminal message could be meant for YOU. But it's probably not. Move along ;D
