This game defines an epic.

They couldn't do that because Tidus was the only one you could name. Since it couldn't say whatever you named him, the alternatives would beOriginally Posted by MAS82587
a) don't allow you to name anybody
b) Hear him called Tidus in every cut scene although you named him Fred Mcnottidus
They went with option a) (apparently)
And here I go again, posting on VI board instead of going to bed. FFVI is the first rpg game that I played in English (and understand it) Plus, I really like Edgar as a king. He is willing to protect his citizen at all cost. And I think he is the most useful FF character of all time because of one word CHAINSAW![]()
I know this is kinda dying out, but I think FF6 was pretty dern good myself. I noticed a trend in FFvii-x, the last bad guys don't make a whole lot of sense. It just seems like square went, "ok, we'll wrap up the real story in a couple of hours and have them play for hours upon hours trying to understand what's going on, then we'll introduce a new bad guy that doesn't fit with the original story whatsoever."
Well I guess all games are kinda like that, but 6 was not quite that bad, but do you know what I mean?
In FF6 you knew from the moment you saw Kefka put that crown on Terra that he was trouble.
(But I guess Sephiroth was pretty obvious as well...)
I can't lie though, I <3 all the FFs!
FFVI (I knew it as FFIII when I 1st saw it) was the 1st FF I played. It rocked. The story is great. Like Locke wanting to save his love. Finding Celes. (SPOILER)Rachel dies. I like the general feel about Locke. Kefka does what he went out to do. Havin to find the chars in WoR. Tower of Fanatics was one of the best places to go. The 2 different blue magic. (Gau and the Old Man) General Leo. Moogles dominate. Plus you get an army of them for some fights. Kefka made the game funny (so did Ultros) SO many great things aboiut it. Plus I love sprites better than those polygons.![]()

Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky me again! I hardly knew I should use me feet again!
What do you have to say for yourself?
There are a multitude of reasons why FF6 is considered the ‘best’ FF game. The only things that I can think of in this game that was done quite a lot better in this game than other FF games (‘cept 9 of course!) was that each character had there own unique attack style, and it was one that could be used all the time rather than just being a limit break (which the game had as well, but most people never saw…). The opera scene was great, you’ve got to love synthesized vocal music. It was also very complex, which is something you don’t see very often in game music…
Although, there are a few flaws in this game that knock it from the top position ( to 5th on my list actually, but who’s counting…). The lack of a protagonist causes the game to loose direction in the World of Ruin, I can’t for the life of me work out why you didn’t at least need to reclaim TERRA before the final battle. Kefka, while entertaining, manages to undermine quite a few of the more serious scenes in this game, which I liked but then I never considered FF6 as serious in the first place. Also, this game has one of the WORST summoning systems in the series, namely because they were all so weak! But these flaws don’t prevent FF6 from being a decent game, it just stops it from being the best.
IMO, if you think this game is the best FF, then you haven’t played FF9…
They did that in every Zelda game after Orcarina of Time, you turd. It's one of the easiest things to program. :/Originally Posted by Psycho Sheep
Because you couldn't name Link. You can name Tidus, and unless they set something up where you could control how the characters pronounce the name you type in, it wouldn't work.
Character development is the key point to this game. You sort of grow along with the character's hardships. It's sort of like reading a book that you're really into and get that funny feeling inside. Except for Mog, Umaro, and Gogo you learn alot about each of the characters.
Plus that scene where Shadow comes and saves everyone is just an awsome scene to watch. It was so heroic I had this huge adrenaline rush. That would be an awsome scene to watch if they made a movie.

Because nearly everyone had a reason to hate the Empire, there was lots of character devopment. The battle system was very well done, and the graphics are extremely appealing (for old school gamers who aren't all about "Halo 2" and it's explosions), everyone had a special ability that only they could use, and the storyline was deep, but not so confusing that you can't find your way around. If you could get past the slow pace, it's a perfect game.
I can't argue with anyone who thinks Six is the best. The game is damn near perfect, and way ahead of it's time. It's my second favorite personally. The only thing I can't stand is when people think it's far and away the best one. It's not. Four and Seven can easily be argued as being just as good, or even better. Each of those games have things in them that are better than the other. Six was probably the most balanced. It had one of, if not the best casts out of all of them as well as one of the best stories. Four was the most advance game in the series considering the time it came out. It was so advanced that Five even looked like a step backwards in comparison. Seven had the best and most indepth story in the immediate series(the only game with a better story than Seven that holds the "Final Fantasy" name was Tactics), and all three had battle systems that were equally as good in their own way.
I can also argue the same point with people who think Seven is far away the best one, because there are a lot of those out there too. Probably even more of those than people who think that of Six.

Storyline alone, six dominates all FF's While not going into massive detail of characterizations, all the major characters (minus Gogo, Umaru, and Mog) get enough background information in the game to show you why they fight.
Terra - her coming to being, how she was taken, her being used by the empire
Edgar and Sabin - Edgar took the throne when their father died and Sabin went to live his life
Locke - the events with Rachael
Shadow - Relm being his daughter and his dream sequences.
Strago - his old friend (can't think of his name) and that demon at Ebots Rock
Relm - She basically just has a feisty attitude she inherited by blood from Shadow and picked up from by Strago.
Cyan - soldier, wife and son killed, the dream sequence tells a lot as well.
Celes - her very past as a soldier, then turning against them, her story with locke when he doesn't believe her at the magitek research facility
Kefka - his experimental procedures with Cid, causing his brain to fry. not to mention his end speech which picks up his motives so eloquently.
Setzer - Daryl's Tomb events.
Gau - being raised in the veldt after his mother dies of complications at birth and his father throws him out.
All the characters are given enough information without going into some painfully long side-quest to learn all this un-necessary information.
Gameplay was simple, eloquent, and true to the FF style with a new way to learn magic. No buying or just simply learning as you level, but it incorporated AP and Espers.
The game is just superb.
