System of a Down - Mezmerize
The 4th and newest CD by a very awesome band. I just got it. I'll edit this post when I give this CD a full listen to review it. It's awesome so far.
01. Soldier Side - A nice introduction for the album, it was pretty soft actually, unusual for SoaD. This is the first plain intro I've ever seen SoaD do, so it was unusual in it's self. I liked it.
02. B.Y.O.B. - I like this song, I listened to it a little bit too much before getting the CD, but it's still good. It's one of the longer songs on the album. I like how Daron and Serj harmonize in this song, and others. The video for this song is good too.
03. Revenga - I really like this song, it's one of my favourites on the album. It's a perfect showcase of SoaD's new style. Not as heavy, but still unusual sounding and awesome like their older songs. I like the really fast parts of this song, but the chorus is great too.
04. Cigaro - Oh, this song is really funny. It's like Bounce, another song of theirs off of the Toxicity album. Like B.Y.O.B, I heard it a bit too much before the album, but it's still good.
05. Radio/Video - This is probably the weakest song on their album, only because it's so repetitive and long for a repetitive song, but it's still good, as this album is awesome. It's great in the beginning, then it sorta sounds like all... I dunno how to describe the music... pirate-ish? xD Still good.
06. This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song - This a pretty cool song. I love the guitar in it, especially in the beginning. I like the fast singing of Serj in this. This sounds like a lot like it should be on the Steal this Album! CD, due to the vocals.
07. Violent Pornography - This is my favourite song off the CD, it's just so awesome. Both the title and the song are great. Serj once again makes this song especially awesome with his vocals.
08. Question! - It's surprisingly soft for this band at first. I like this song. It gets pretty good towards the middle. I like the lyrics to this song, the other songs were a little repetitive
09. Sad Statue - This song has probably the most meaning out of all of the songs, it's really good. I love these types of songs by System of a Down. The chorus is definitely the best bit of the song.
10. Old School Hollywood - I've never heard a robotic voice in any of their songs before, so it made this one pretty cool. Daron's voice when he just sings along is real funny and amusing.
11. Lost in Hollywood - For once, Daron is the one who has the majority of the vocals, if not all of them. Serj sings back up in this one. It's a nice change. This is a very soft song for them, light guitar. One of my favourites off of the album.
Over all, I'd give this album an 8.5/10 so far, probably more as I give it a more thorough listen.
