You do have a ship in the present right?
Start at Fishbel. Sail up the eastern coast of Estard Island until you can see the Ruins. Then sail due east and you'll eventually reach a whirlpool off the western shoreline of the Hamelia continent. That's the entrance.
I played the game trough a loooooong looooooong time ago, but it sucked because of 2d fighting and also other graphics were kinda un-kool
Dragon Warrior VII feels like a poor stepsister to the Final Fantasy series. It has the job system like Tactics, but not as well done. It has the 3-D dungeons, like Xenogears, but again not as well done.
It is very addictive nonetheless. I've got one game where I logged 200+ hours (mostly leveling up) and I still haven't gotten everything!
I'm starting a new one though because I figure it's easier to start a second game to trade citizens from Sim's city rather than try recruit all the right types within a single save.

Oh what side-splitting irony...Originally Posted by BG-57

Dragon Warrior 7 is like the best selling PS1 game ever or something like that. The DW/DQ series has, worldwide, amassed such great popularity that it vastly eclipses Final Fantasy in terms of sales in its native country.
Doesn't surprise me. Tastes differ.
But I still think the PS1 Final Fantasy games are better than Dragon Warrior VII.
I must disagree, the story in the DW games have surpassed the majority of recent FF's, even the older ones. (DW4 vs FF3... i think we know the winner)
Also, I have over 100 hours in this game, and still have not beaten it. This game is actually a challenge, which is something FF's don't really have. You actually have to work to level, and in this, one job skill CAN save your life.
I was just talking about Dragon Warrior VII, I've never played any other Dragon Warriors in the series.
Mind you, I like this game; I just don't think it's as good as say, Final Fantasy VII or Final Fantasy Tactics.
Dragon Warrior was better than Final Fantasy until FF4 came along. Dragon Warrior 4 is still one of my favorite games, and DW was much more 'personal' and adventerous than FF. Things all changed with 16-bit. Looking back, I think that FF4 was the best overall game of all time. There were only two 16-bit DWs, and they never made it stateside. DQ6 is really good too, but it is harder to get in to if you aren't a fan of the series.
When FF7 came along, the only RPG still worth playing became the Lunar series.
I had a memory card with DW7, but it was stolen. Now I have to start all over. The good thing about it is that it is still kind of personal and adventerous, and not so much of an interactive movie. I just hate to go through all of the slow parts again.
Well, speaking for myself, FF VII has nice graphics, but what I really like about it is the engaging storyline. Also nice are the magic system, the interesting characters, the subquests (chocobo breeding/racing in particular), the weapons, the WEAPONS.
I like DW VII a lot too, but my reservations aren't about the graphics. It's the endless, tedious way that leveling up and acquiring spells/skills takes place. Even after 200 hours I still haven't mastered every job. I like everything else about the game though. I can see why it's so popular: very addictive gameplay, fun skills and spells, sense of humor.
EDIT: Might as well ask since this is a DW VII thread. I know you can trade Sims between two different saves, but can you choose who goes in both villages?
I want to eventually make two copies of each of my two saves so that I have four. Then I plan on trading Sims between the four so I get the quota of special Sims in one of the four saves. I can do that, right?
Example: In one save I have 5 merchants and in the other I have 6 merchants. I'll trade back and forth until I get 22 merchants in one save and no merchants in the other three.
