With my theory, we at least have an in-game reference to the entity by Garland, and an explanation for why the party would encounter Necron after being killed, and why the Iifa Tree would die after that battle. It basically wraps up everything up.Originally Posted by Craig
While I once held the other theory, I realized that it has no actual in-game basis and leaves lots of loose ends (why the Tree died, why it made no sense in general for some random cosmic entity to appear, etc.; just trying to reason out the different location that Zidane and the others find themselves in (the Hill of Despair) proved impossible while following that line of thinking). For me at least, Occam's Razor is the way to go.
In the event that you consider this proof or I find it in the future, a thick five pound steak with a couple of pounds of french fries, and with it all smothered in mushrooms and gravy would be my dinner of choice.
