Depends on what mood I'm in, it's either because I find something funny, I just feel like laughing, or I'm making an attempt to cheer myself up (which never works).

I also laugh at coincidences, and other things like that. I like to laugh. It makes me feel good, unless I'm in a really depressive mood. I have to wait those out.

If I don't get a joke I will give a little chuckle, and if I really don't get it I will ask for them to explain it. And chances are if I don't get it, others around me who were actually laughing don't get it either. There have been times when others around me laughed at a joke, then I had it explained and they laughed again. I assume that means they really didn't get it the first time.
