I don't necessarily see how that would be a bad thing. It's this dogmatic thinking that all RPGs must take place in a medieval world of swords and sorcery that's really intimidating most of the publishers from coming out with futuristic stuff. Personally, I fail to see how people aren't tired of all this medieval stuff yet. A good story is a good story, regardless of where the setting is.
I'd love to see another game along the lines of Secret of Evermore or Earthbound. Those were two beautiful games.
