I think either everyone votes based on popularity or no one does, depending on how you see it. Popularity is just another term for knowing lots of people. You have to be known in order to be voted for anything. If you're known by one person and they vote for you, that's voting based on... I dunno, merit? And if you're known by tons of people, and they all vote for you, then that's voting based on popularity? It makes no sense to me

A person is nominated on and voted for based on which members are known to deserve the award by the most people. I mean, really, Kishi's as popular as hell but if he got enough nominations to be up for "Nicest Member" people aren't going to vote for him, unless they laugh while doing it.
Popularity shmopularity. Belitting something as "a popularity contest" when others are clearly enjoying it is so emo. Pshaw.
