I really enjoyed Squall's character. Though it may only be a few hours to us in gameplay, these characters are developing for month or possibly years in their time. Squall just has a lot of walls that he's built to protect himself from the world. The guy has serious abandonment issues. Perhaps that would be why he became so attached to Raine at the orphanage. I found his relationship with Rinoa somewhat interesting. It seemed like the walls that he put up, so many others just accepted. They probably though he was rude or cold. It seems Rinoa wouldn't accept that this is the man he was though. Perhaps she saw something he didn't. In a way, I guess she helped in drawing out the real Squall.
