Why do you people talk about characters being overrated?

I have a question...Why do you people insist on calling the characters of FFX "overrated"? They're freakin graphics. It's not like they're real people that you can slap in the face...Get real, people.

I don't believe I've ever seen a person refer to FFX characters as "overrated". "Cliche" or "bad" perhaps, but not overrated. And the latter two are probably because they feel the FFX characters aren't that well defined and their personalities are much overdone, which is debatable.

dude people arent obsessed (ok maybe some people) but this series of game is like a book or a film only you can interact and control parts of it, and help the characters develop kinda like those little tamagochi pets. Tell me you have never discussed a movie or a book with a friend and talked about whihc characters (whether fictional or based on real people) you liked ..
People discuss celebrities whom they are never going to meet and have no business spreading gossip about but still do it. and that annoys me a hell of a lot more than discussing fictional characters!

Okay, truth be told-I've met some who've taken the game a bit to the extreme. . .but-not everybody is like that.

So I have to agree with Ravenmorghane, it's not that they think they're real people(*cough*though some might) it's just that they're discussing what they thought about some of the characters in a game.
