Default Trouble with "Draw Out" skills...

I've not been able to figure out how to use thse skills. I have a katana equiped, but it still says I don't have one in inventory. What am I overlooking? Thanks...

You must have a katana in your inventory AND learned the skill with the katana's name. Simple.

Don't try and argue with it. You know it's true. =O

and the katanas sometimes break when the skill is used. Plus the damage is based on magic power so draw out is crappy on a physical-attack based character.

Increasing a character's Faith works wonders on improving the strength of the Draw Out, so even if it's a physical-based character you can still do decent damage with it.

Ahhh!! That explains it. So I guess I'll have Ramza use 'Martial Arts', fight with his fists and utilize the 'Draw Out' skills along with the 'Punch Art' skills. I like to role play, so I won't necessarily pick the best jobs or skills.... Thanks for the help. Guess I've gotta go find that town that sold all the Katanas.... Grrr..

Even so, Samurais have the best MAs of any physical class.

    Warjilis Trade City....

Yeah, I feel that the samurai's draw out abilities aren't too good. But I think the Samurai's reaction abilities rule. Meatbone Slash is okay if you like to take hits, Blade Grasp is awesome if you like winning. Raise your brave to like 90 and the enemies will rarely hit you.

I have to disagree with the Samurai abilities not being good. I've found them to be VERY effective on high faith characters, capable of taking down entire groups of enemies in one draw out.

the only thing I don't like about Samurais and their Draw Out skill is the fact of the rarity of their last two weapons (Masamune must be stolen from Elmdor, so there's only one and there's no point in using the Draw Out on it... And the last one you must poach it from a monster... I don't remember exactly)
also... they're not the best melee guys, so I always master it to turn the character in a Ninja (and use Draw Out as Second Skill for aiding purposes)

all the trade cities sell katanas.

yes Samurai have the best MA of all physical classes, but it's not that useful to slap Draw Out on your knight.
