The band you're thinking of is called Trivium. I have the album, it's not too bad, but nothing brilliant like older thrash stuff, it's got a sort of nu-metal feel to some of it. I saw them live in Wolverhampton not too long ago, they were bloody brilliant. They're definately worth looking into.

I also got into Dream Theater recently, absolutely kick arse band. Train of Thought is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Also, CKY have a new album out soon, everyone go buy that.

There you go again, just trashing music.

The thread starter stated anything would be good, regardless of genre, what right have you to just trash what someone else suggests?

Anyway, The Magic Numbers have an album out now, and are insanely listenable.

[q=Necronopticous] Welcome to EoFF, this is a good place to start looking for music suggestions:

Just a suggestion, your font color choice is hard to read ;_;[/q]
Necro is right on all counts.

I've been addicted to Arcade Fire ever since I saw them live at Coachella. Check out their album Funeral. You might want to check out their self-titled EP as well, but Funeral is far more cohesive and... well... awesome.

Funeral is good JUST for Power Out and Crown of Love, that's not to say the rest of the album isn't wonderful, but those two songs alone could carry a band for years, the fact that they have an album full of other brilliant songs just bolsters the fact that they win, forever and ever more.

Tack on Rebellion to that list. They went crazy while playing it live - one of their guys took a cymbal stand and starting poking the guitarist with it, and security was confused and pulled the two apart.

You're welcome. And the album is in fact full of those lovely solos. I say nu-metalish, but it could more of an Iron Maiden-type thing with some of the vocal lines. Either way, bloody good all the same.

And I've been dieing for that damn CKY to come out since November, and it's finally only 2 weeks away
