I forget about the Umbrella but the Mop is dug up at Bone Village, I'm pretty sure...Might be wrong.

Practice. I can consistently score more than 5000 points on the lollercoaster. I think my highest ever is 5420 or something like that. I want to break 5500, and then see if I can clear 6000. To do it though, learn where enemies come from, and the best way way to take them down.

Oh, and that big UFO near the end? To beat him, let your laser charge up fully, and then tap the button very fast and aim, instead of holding it down. You can't kill him by holding it down, but you'll take him down if you just keep tapping the button instead. That's a cool 1000 points right there.

The weapons received via the Speed Square game are Aeris' Umbrella and Cid's Flayer. The Mop can be dug up in Bone Village as soon as the area becomes accessible; later, it can be bought in bulk in Junon (Discs 2 and 3).

3000 points is not sufficient, unfortunately, for either weapon. In order to acquire the Umbrella, you must score ≥5000 points on Disc 1. After Disc 1, the Umbrella becomes inaccessible. On Discs 2 and 3, the prize for scoring 5000 or more points is the Flayer. It's worth noting that you receive these weapons only the first time you successfully score 5000 points at these times in the game; subsequent scores above 5000 will yield the same unusable prizes as any game at or above 3000 points.

As has already been mentioned, I'm afraid there's little you can do to improve your chances of scoring 5000 points beyond practicing.

The highest I ever managed was 6,340 and that was with hitting most every target. That said, I won't say that someone's claim to 8,000 is impossible, as -- if I had managed to hit every target I missed -- I would have probably had a substantial bit more. I would say that 7,000 is definitely possible with what targets are there, though 8,000 might not be without use of the propeller.

To those who don't know what I'm speaking of, there's a propeller on one of the airships that gives you a random amount of points if you shoot it (I've seen claims of people managing to get up to 40,000 with it). I managed the 6,340 without it as I think it's far more telling of one's skill to see how many of the targets they actually manage to bring down, rather than if they manage to hit a single target in a 2/10 of a second frame of time.

Perhaps the 8,000 was a result of hitting that propeller at some point during that run.
I love my Carys with all my heart.
