I think posting a lot & getting to know some of the people is the best way to get noticed. Probably as well as making great posts & having good humour.
That name was pretty crappy. Except for the 89 part, I like that number a lot.
I think the only plus of that name was that everyone knew I was a girl. When I first changed my name to Rye, a few people though I was a guy!
I had no idea people stereotyped bread as a male thing... anyway, uhm, yeah, one thing people should do is try to get a name that's easy to say. Try to make it catchy and not boring. Something like 'Fwab', but that name is already taken.

Having said that, people who change their names bug me a lot, too. If any newbie was just starting to get known by everyone and then they went and changed their name, they'd be shooting themselves in the social foot. Try to stick to one name. It's easier for everyone, really. I don't like name changes all that much.
