well, from a biological standpoint, the purpose of life is to produce offspring and pass on favorable genes in order to sustain and improve the species as a whole. That as well as to perform your species niche in the overal biological community, to help in natural selection of other species, to provide food for species higher in the food chain. Bam, the meaning of life = to have sex, eat, kill stuff and die.
