The meaning of life is EASY to answer.
It's reproduction, pure and simple, replication and improvement. If you wanna go darwinian, it's the act of passing on DNA. If you wanna go philosophical, it's the act passing on of knowlege and wisdom to the next generation. If you wanna go creationist, it includes whatever deific concepts you want to bring up. Even the reincarnation concepts of perpetual self-improvement. From a utilitarian function, the one thing all life does (or at least attempts) is make new life.
See, that's the meaning of *life*, itself. Now, if you want to go into details of the meaning of the universe, or what life's function is meant to acheive, things get tough. But life itself, is easy.
