    Default Final Fantasy manga???

Okay, is there such thing as a "Final Fantasy manga"? I've read on my distant friend's profile that she's "read all of them!" (sorta directly quoted). Does anyone know if it "does exist" because I don't think she really knows a lot about ff (which is good for me)...

manga is a type of japanese anime cartoon, which was used by the animators of final fantasy (at least for 7 I'm not aware of any others really, Haven't played the old ones sorry). Sounds like your mate is either very confused or she's havin you on. Maybe theres a comic book or somthing based on the games I wouldn't know but I very much doubt it.

I doubt there's any official manga (comic book) adaptation of FFVII, but there are a plethora of doujinshi, which are fan produced manga adapations of almost any game or movie that has a large following in Japan. You can find them for sale on ebay.

Yep, BG is right. There are no official manga for any of the Final Fantasy games. Only doujinshi. And just as a heads up, be advised that at least 75% of the doujinshi available is hentai (porn).

Manga refers to Japanese comics, not animation. The British still get this wrong regularly.

Theres galleries of some of the work that the producers of final fantasy have made. Some of them (mainly final fantasy vi) is in the form of manga. While there is loads of artwork made by final fantasy fans, some in the form of manga too.
Dont know about any comic books though....

P.S: Some of the pictures on your website are really good...

Not manga, but Squaresoft released Final Fantasy Unlimited, an anime series back in 2001. There was also Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals. It was a four part series. It follows the Final Fantasy idea well, but Nobuo Uematsu had nothing to do with this anime. It was FF by name only.

FFU is a more underground series, this is probably what your friend was referring to. Manga and Anime are commonly switched terms since most Americans and Europeans don't know the difference.

There are official artbooks from the creators of the game. These are not manga. Manga are the equivilant of comic books, they tell a story. Art books are just collections of art. There are many many official art books with Amano/Nomura art in them, but there are NO official manga. All manga for the Final Fantasy series is done by fans, usually in professional companies or 'circles'. Some look official as hell, but they arent.

Most everything in Japan has these fan-comincs (doujinshi) made from them. Every manga (Sailormoon has hundreds of spin-off doujinshi), anime, video game, and even popular actors and singers (Gackt has quite a few doujinshi centered on him) have their own. But these arent official, and are due to the loose copyright laws in America. They are no different from the fan art and fan fiction we see all over the internet. They arent official.
