I could have gotten my beginners almost two years ago. In New Brunswick you get your beginners at 16, then you can wait a year to get your driver's liscense. Or when you are 16, pay 400$ to take Driver's Ed. then drive 10 hours, and 4 months (or is it 6) later you can have your driver's liscense.
I was too lazy to get mine, but I drive my dad's Gulf when we are on dirt roads (like in the summer). I hate standards, cuz at first I would look down while shifting, luckily there is no traffic on dirt roads. Also I try to avoid the bums, yet manage to hit more, so it never works out for me. Once though my dad made me drive on the highway. My mom was pissed when she found out, cuz it was her car (and we could have got fined really badly if I was caught behind the wheel). It was scary at first, but fun. Sorry for being longwinded.
