I was on Inis Mór a while back. I was sitting on the steps to this statue, looking out at the bay. It was a good day, bright and clear.

This elderly Japanese woman was sitting beside me. She looked at me and I looked at her, and she pointed to herself and said:
    "Japanese."
I pointed back to myself and replied:
    "Irish."
With her thin hands she guestered out over the bay. What she said next I will never forget.
    "Beautiful."
    I simply replied,
"Yes." There was nothing more that could be said.

It's a strange feeling, when someone comes from the other side of the world, from a country so intricate and richly cultured as Japan, to tell you that your country looks beautiful
    Money, power, sex... and elephants.

That's because she didn't come to Dublin, and if she did, she was making a comparison *looks out the window and shudders*

Man, I've never actually noticed how beautiful my country is, or how green it looks.
    Casteal is my little sister!
