I'd say it's one of the finest First Person shooters on the market today. It's far better than Doom 3, at the very least. If you want a fast game, then, sure, Unreal or something similar would be better, but there are many great things about Halo 2 that make it an extremely fun and well made shooter. It IS overhyped, but still very good.
Here is the thing...it isn't a very good FPS. DooM III does what Halo does and it does it better. Pointless action and shooting. At least in DooM III they give you some really sweet looking places to go kick ass in. Nothing like smurfing up demons in hell!
I play Halo 2 online and online only. It would be even better if the online modes wasn't so smurfing retarded though. Random stuff sucks.
Halo 2 has terrible level design all around which is what makes it so bad. The difficulty of Halo was the only saving grace but Halo 2 smurfed that in the ass royally by forcing you to fight guys with damn near perfect accuracy...with explosive weapons followed by guys with sniper rifles to back those guys up.
The graphics are poorly done and have really bad pop-in/renderization(I made up a word!).
I rest my case.
Yeah, not getting in the Halo argument, there's no point. I like it, you don't. I have fun playing it, that's what matters.

If you had said Half-Life 2, and Halo 2, without any silly to the power of, and if Half-Life 2 had any replayability, and had a character to match Sgt. Johnson (Or heck even if Dog had more than about eighteen seconds of doing stuff.), then it'd be true. As it is.
Because Halo and Halo 2 have so much replayablity.

Please tell me you're joking. Halo and Halo 2 brought nothing new to the FPS genre except pretty graphics, which Half Life 2 put to shame with its mind-blowing graphics. Half-Life 2 brought in unbelievably immersive, non-linear environments where pretty much anything can be moved/blown up. There are so many ways to beat levels that you'll want to keep playing it over and over.

And you get to say what games are MIND BLOWINGLY WONDERFUL, it's a deal we have, remember?
Halo 2 has some shabby work around the edges, but neither game is riddled with bugs, neither game is unresponsive, neither has bad collision detection or physics, both have good graphics, good sound, are well put-together in terms of the absence of gaps between scenery. And they've got plenty of funny stuff, too.
Even if you don't like the gameplay, or you think it's a boring story, or unoriginal, or whatever, there's no logical way to arrive at the conclusion that Halo is bad, nevermind worst. Not to your taste, fine. I'll look at you askance and go on to other matters. Claiming Halo games are among the worst ever shows a rather scant disregard for the criteria which make games good or bad.
