You make it sound like they have to. There are concepts that have yet to appear, you know? Things that haven't been done because game-writers are only original in very few areas.
I'm currently working on a few game scripts, using the Grand List of Cliches as a guide for what not to do. Only one of my ideas still has cliches 'cause I know some of you weirdos like cliches.
