A similar thing happened a few years ago... in Egypt, I believe. In that case, the twins were both 18 before it was discovered that the host's stomach pains and swelling were being caused by conjoint, not a tumor.

It's just fortunate that the parasitic twins never seem to experience any significant brain development. I can't imagine what it would be like for a sentient being to be trapped in that kind of situation.

Fetuses absorb one another all the time. This is a special case, of course, since the fetus that got absorbed survived instead of just being diluted prior to birth, but it's not surprising.

A question though, as I don't really know much about this sort of thing. If it was there for sixteen years, why did it not grow a bit larger than that? You know, why wouldn't it have continued to grow in size?
